Full Faith and Credit

Turns out I'm not infallible.   Since I started my internal debate over whether to invest heavily into Bitcoin, it has more then doubled in value.

It seems that since the Cypriot banking debacle, Bitcoin has entered into the lexicon of the mainstream media.   The general uncertainty regarding government-issued currencies has contributed to its rise in popularity and price.  The news coverage has not all been well-informed or positive however.

The following segment was appeared on Bloomberg:

Right away the well is poisoned by the title, "The Anarchist Virtual Currency."  My goodness, how frightening!  It could just have well been titled, "The Incorruptible Currency."  Maybe, "The Stateless Currency"?  Oooo, I know, how about "The People's Currency."  That one, I feel, has legs.

The Bitcoin Economy

I guess the Bitcoin economy didn't collapse in August 2011 as predicted in the Atlantic.  I don't have much to say other than that.  It seems pretty clear to me that Bitcoin or something like it is the future of currency in this world, and I don't understand how anyone who knows anything about fiat money can't see that.

Stossel: Freedom 2.0

I have lately been a little bit bored with Stossel, not because I don't think his topics are interesting and important, but because I have just heard it all before.  I am hearing the sermon from choir.

But his latest episode, Freedom 2.0, was fantastic.  He covered some of my favorite topics in considerable detail including:
  • Government Transparency
  • New Media (Including Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia).
  • Government-free regulation of important markets
  • Artificial Intelligence and its potential effects on our lives and the economy of the future
  • Bitcoin, the government-free currency of the future (hopefully).
I feel that I actually learned something new, and I highly recommend you check it out.
